On August 31, 2020, a group of people destroyed and burned the building of the headquarters of the Degla Satellite Channel in Baghdad in protest against the broadcast of one of the channels of the Tigris Songs Foundation on the night of Ashura, but the channel's management apologized to its audience, stressing that “the broadcast of the songs was not intentional on the night of Ashura.” 9] The furniture of the canal office in Al-Jadriya was destroyed and then burned, chanting the slogan “For you, Hussein”.[ 10] On the same day, the Rusafa Court issued an arrest warrant for the owner of the canal, Jamal Al-Karbouli, on charges of contempt of Islam. This sparked a wave of criticism against the court's decision because the channel is for songs and not concerned with religious rituals.[ 11] As for the owner of the channel, Jamal Al-Karbouli, on Twitter, accused the armed militias of storming the channel, and also accused the government and the local police of complicity in the attack, as the videos showed that they were content to watch the invaders. He also promised to prosecute channels that offend the companions, the Sunnis and the rest of Iraq's communities.[4]
