Project Overview
[dezie | dezie ebe o si]Her Words, Her Power – Celebrating African Women Through Quotes is a Wikimedia project designed to highlight the voices, wisdom, and contributions of African women. Many powerful quotes and perspectives from African women are not well documented on Wikimedia platforms, especially on Igbo Wikiquote.
This project is focused on celebrating African women through Igbo Wikiquote, giving a voice to this underrepresented women and making them notable and by so doing bridging that gap by bringing together contributors to document notable African women and their inspiring words. Through training and collaborative editing, participants will learn how to create and improve articles while promoting gender representation and African voices online.
Project Goals
[dezie | dezie ebe o si]The main aim of this project is to:
- Increase content about notable African women on Igbo Wikiquote.
- Highlight and document inspiring quotes from African women leaders, writers, and changemakers.
- Train new and existing editors on how to contribute effectively on Wikiquote.
- Promote Igbo language knowledge through quality article creation and improvement.
- Encourage more women and young people to participate in the Wikimedia movement.
Project Activities

Physical training session for participants.
Introduction to Wikimedia and Igbo Wikiquote editing.
Guided editing sessions focused on African women and their quotes.
Collaborative article creation and improvement.
