Wiki Loves Culture Nigeria 2025 is a community-driven campaign focused on improving and creating content related to Nigeria’s cultural heritage across Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata.

The campaign brings together editors, photographers, and cultural enthusiasts to share free knowledge about Nigeria’s arts, traditions, festivals, and indigenous practices.

Objectives

  • Promote Nigerian cultural heritage through free knowledge platforms.
  • Encourage new contributors to join Wikimedia projects.
  • Improve the quality and quantity of Nigeria-related cultural content.
  • Strengthen collaboration between Wikimedia communities and cultural institutions.

How to Participate

Anyone can join! You can participate by:

  1. Creating or expanding Wikipedia articles related to Nigerian culture.
  2. Uploading photos, videos, or audio files of cultural events and items on Wikimedia Commons.
  3. Adding structured data about Nigerian culture on Wikidata.
  4. Joining our online and in-person edit-a-thons or training sessions.
