GLAM Wiki in Schools – Documenting Heritage Architecture in Nigeria

OVERVIEW

The GLAM Wiki in Schools project aims to empower master’s-level architecture students to contribute to the digital preservation of Nigeria’s heritage buildings. Participants will research, document, and upload content related to notable heritage sites to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, combining architectural expertise with open knowledge contributions.

OBJECTIVES

1. Train students to contribute to Wikimedia platforms with a focus on heritage documentation.
2. Improve online visibility and knowledge of Nigerian heritage buildings, especially in eastern and southern Nigeria.
3. Promote professional contributions from architecture students to open knowledge.
4. Foster partnerships between academia and the Wikimedia movement.
