Wikisource Loves Proofreading in the Igbo Community

Wikisource Loves Proofreading Campaign in the Igbo Community is a project which is aimed at giving visibility and improving the quality and accessibility of Igbo-related public-domain texts on Igbo Wikisource. This campaign will mobilize and train volunteers on how to find works on the public domain, proofread, validate, and transclude digitized texts, while building skills in digital literacy, collaboration, and open knowledge contribution. The campaign will combine outreach, training, and competitions to increase participation and measurable content improvements on the Igbo Wikisource.

Expectations

At the end of this project, the following should be achieved:

1. Recruit new members into the Igbo Wikimedians User Group Y Done
2. Proofread at least 300 pages in the Igbo Wikisource Y Done

Contest Prizes

1st Prize - ₦25,000
2nd Prize - ₦20,000

Outcome

During the course of this inaugural campaign, 334 Wikisource pages were proofread which served as a means of preserving the Igbo historical literary works
