Geline Alfred Fuko is a Lawyer and a Human Rights activist who works to promote and protect Democracy, Rule of Law, Human Rights and democratic governance. She is a founding member of the organisation called Tangible initiative for Local Development Tanzania, a local non-governmental organisation works on development issues. She is also a member of Consultative group under USAID Tanzania. Previously, Geline worked with Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa where she managed two portfolios on Freedom of expression and Anti –corruption in six countries in East Africa namely, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan and South Sudan. Before OSIEA, she worked as a Legal Officer Parliamentary Watch desk with Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC), a local Non-Governmental Organisation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In 2014, she became a Legal Researcher with the same organisation where she designed and run the first and the only Online Public Database on Constitutional Resources as well as Katiba Information Centre. She brings a wealth of expertise with particular strengths in areas such as legal and policy reforms, election observation and monitoring, freedom of information, constitution making and civil society organizations. Her previous engagement with local and International organizations has added value to her engagement in the promotion of democratic governance in the region. Her commitment to constitutional review process in Tanzania has benefited a number of non-governmental organization and citizens at large. In the 2015 Tanzania’s General Elections, Geline was appointed as the Manager to run TACCEO Election Observation Center under the umbrella of 17 local civil society organizations. She managed about 60 data clerks, 10 Techie Team and about 2,200 long and short-term election Observers. She ran multiple online platforms that were meant to facilitate the observation of the election and provide efficient and timely electoral information. She pioneered the establishment of online, web-based TV and radio to air election video clips in order to promote peace and increase public access to electoral information. Geline holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master’s degree in Local Development from the University of Trento, Italy and Corvinus University of Budapest. She is a Mandela Washington Fellow 2016, President Obama’s Young African Leadership fellowship Coordinated by the Presidential Precinct hosted by University of Virginia, College of William and Marry, Morven Farm and the Presidential homes, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, James Madison). Geline is a recipient of Erasmus Mundus Star Award 2015 for her contribution in community development. During free time, Geline spend most of her time in music production and she has learnt to use software like Logic, Cubase, Abletonlive fruity loops in music and sound production.
