Male nurses assist during a chest examination as part of their training at Hackney Hospital in London. One nurse holds the young boy in the correct position as the doctor listens to his chest with his stethoscope. A second nurse shows the doctor an x-ray of the patient's chest. The boy's mother is just visible on the left of the photograph.

The image was catalogued by the IWM as created for the Ministry of Information, which was dissolved in 1946. Consequently the image and faithful reproductions are considered Crown Copyright, now expired as the photograph was taken prior to 1 June 1957.
