Say It Right
[dezie | dezie ebe o si]Name mispronunciation is most times considered a microaggression.
Unfortunately, names of African origins suffer a lot from this type of microaggression. Wikimedia projects have an audio feature to help with correct name pronunciations but this feature isn't often used.
This project aims to record pronunciations of names of individuals with live pages on Igbo Wikipedia to be stored as audio files on Commons and utilized on the corresponding pages using the audio template on the Igbo Wikipedia.
Project Timeline

Done - Searching for already existing pronunciations on Wikimedia Commons and making pronunciations for individual names - 16th August 2024 to 31st August 2024 Done
- Project Launch - 1st of September 2024 by 5:00PM UTC+1 on Zoom Done
- Edit a thon - 1st September 2024 - 6th September 2024 Done
Expectations

- Participants should learn how to make audio pronunciations on commons.
- How to add audio to Igbo Wikipedia page using the audio template.
- At least 800 audio name pronunciation be added to relavant 800 individual Igbo Wikipedia articles.
