  • Signature ná aka :
H.O. TANNER / PARIS July 13 1919
  • Incised :
H.O. TANNER
Notes The date appears to be July 13, 1914, but that is incorrect as the context of the painting makes clear; "In this dramatic nocturnal scene, Henry Ossawa Tanner recorded the Celebration of the Dead, held on July 13, 1919, in Paris to honor those who died defending France during World War I."[1] The war was just beginning in 1914, there was no reason to celebrate yet.

  1. The Arch Henry Ossawa Tanner. Brooklyn Museum.
This is a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art. The work of art itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
Public domain

Orüá di na áma ime obodo nwéré iwu nke si ndu onye kéré iheá gi di na afor 80 garaga ma afor nke di nso.

You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. Note that a few countries have copyright terms longer than 80 years: Mexico has 100 years and Jamaica has 95 years. This image may not be in the public domain in these countries, which moreover do not implement the rule of the shorter term.
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
