By the early 1970s Forakis had begun experimenting with his "space" technique, one of his signature results that became known as a unique language of geometric analysis and for producing large-scale machining without welding. Cutting holes in steel and sheet metal together allowed large sculptures to be assembled using only gravity and the weight of the material. Archimedes Cube, (series, from 1968) signature piece for Forakis, no welds, just holes. Among his iconic images are Sokar: Key Egypt (1974), and Jack London (1982) owned by the Oakland Museum and located in the Oakland Estuary, Oakland, California .
