[dezie ebe o si]- As it stands there are already 15 bots with the local flag which means the quota here is filled and you would not qualify for the flag. -Djsasso 12:42, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Operator: Leaderboard (ṅkátá) For meta:Global reminder bot - the bot will rarely run here, but this process appears to be required according to the rules of this wiki. Please ping me in a response. The bot flag is NOT required. Note that the rules of the wiki allow the bot to run while waiting for approval, which I've done. Also: the bot is expected to run very rarely - it may well not post for a long time. This is expected and the bot should not be de-flagged in that case. Request for removal
[dezie ebe o si]- user:Byrialbot is inactive for more then 6 months. Last edit made on this or any other wikipedia is made in august 2007. The bot was only a few months active. And has made here 46 edits. Carsrac 07:52, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

- User:Robbot is inactive at the moment, but the owner is a steward and it is wise not to remove the flag. That he has still has a bot with a botflag here to do the things stewards do or for undo the damage other iw bots some times do. CarsracBot 10:10, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, nevertheless, the bot is active now. -- Kerowren (talk · contribs) 20:09, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- As a further explanation, this bot is not really inactive, but I usually run it with a whenneeded option. This means that it will not make edits to add just one language, but only if there are several languages to be added at once, if links have to be removed or if they have to be changed to resolve problems. These are all relatively rare occurences, and furthermore I rarely run the bot autonomously, and cannot run it at work, so compared to other bots its activity will be very low. Apart from that, I do not really care about bot flags - I much like to have the right for my bot to do its few edits, but whether it does it with or without a flag I leave wholly up to you. - Andre Engels 11:27, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Global bots
[dezie ebe o si]Hello. The standard bot policy was updated to allow global bots, which are now technically possible. These are trusted bots that will be given bot access on all wikis that allow global bots (the local policy or request page must explicitly allow them, or they won't get access on this wiki). The current requirements for global bots are:
- the bot must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects;
- the bot must already be active on several wikis, with long-term contributions to back up its trustworthiness.
Does anyone object to allowing global bots on this wiki? I'll update the local policy in a week if there are no objections. Thanks. —Pathoschild 00:44:27, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- The problem with having global bots is that, with there being so many of them, this wiki's bot quota will quickly fill up, creating an influx of locally unregistered bots for a small article space. I think it might be best to hold off on opening that particular door just yet, at least until we reach the 1000 articles range. -- Kerowren (talk · contribs) 20:20, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. —Pathoschild 19:35:41, 04 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just to be sure: by locally unregistered bots, do you mean they didn't create their accounts locally, or you're afraid their edits will be visible in the Recent Changes (they won't)?. Best regards, Malafaya 22:29, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Since there is no active admin or bureaucrat here and I am only a temporary admin I am reopening this discussion. I think Kerowren just didn't fully understand the benefits of allowing global bots on this wiki. Global bots are actually intended for wikis that are this small so that the wiki does not have to focus on bot request and can focus on article writing instead. If I don't hear any objects in the next week I will ask a steward to turn global bots on for this wiki. -Djsasso 03:06, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- No I understood, but I was worried about the wiki being overrun by bots. I'll let you use your discretion on the matter though if you would prefer global. -- Kerowren (talk · contribs) 05:41, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would suggest you allow global bots, as that would give the stewards and the meta/global community the responsibibilty of following the behavior of the bots/bot owners. Of course, if you find something is wrong with a bot, you can block it, or contact the stewards to do so, but you wouldn't need to use as much time on this page as you do now; and hopefully use that time on creating content. Laaknor 11:52, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- I hope that everyone understand that the limited bots allowed local policy will overruled by this global policy. The fact that there is no local admin anymore changed a lot. The bot edits will not increase a lot, they will be done quicker. I have no objection, but I'm only bot user of this wiki and I think that the temp admin and the local users has a vote in this. Carsrac 16:30, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- We actually already have standard bot policy and the stewards have always deferred granting local flags because the local rule overrules the global rule. But, if you mean global bots will be counted outside the limited bots idea then yes you are correct they won't be limited by the local rule. Most of these bots are editing here anyways so might as well let them have the flag globally so the change list is a little less spammed. Although its not that spammed to begin with. -Djsasso 17:13, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm reading the discussion has the global bot-part of the global bot policy should be allowed on this wiki. I have enabled it for this wiki. If you experience problems with it, please let me know on my usertalk on meta. Laaknor 17:18, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
